Private Bodywork and Movement at Home
In-home massage and bodywork with Scott Schwartz, serving the Portland area.
You want to keep making plans—a walking trip overseas, another season on the slopes, a long golf holiday or more time doing the everyday things you enjoy. You want your body to remain a source of freedom as you get older.
You’re willing to give your health time and attention. You value skilled, personal care from someone who learns your body, notices what needs attention and helps you make good decisions about looking after it.
I’m Scott Schwartz. I offer ongoing massage, bodywork and movement care in your home. We work together to help you feel better, function better and care for the physical life you want to keep enjoying.
Someone who gets to know your body
We begin with you: how you feel, how you use your body and what you want to keep doing.
As we work together, I learn your body: where you hold tension, how you move, how you respond to different techniques and what makes a difference for you. That familiarity lets me make increasingly specific choices and suggestions.
I also pay attention to things you may not have noticed or thought to ask about. A movement habit, an area of restriction or a change in how you’re using your body may deserve a closer look.
Sometimes we find another way to understand something you’ve been feeling. I’ll explain what I’m noticing, listen to your experience and explore with you what might help.
That may mean changing the hands-on work, paying closer attention to your nervous system’s role in tension and movement, or showing you a particular stretch or exercise. I adjust the approach to what I’m finding and how you respond.
Care that builds over time
Massage and bodywork are at the heart of our sessions. There is time for thorough hands-on work, attention to areas that need it and the pleasure of being cared for.
Our goals include less pain, better mobility and stability, a lower likelihood of injuries related to how your body functions, and better recovery from physical setbacks. Maintenance, treatment and improvement all have a place.
You also become more aware of your own body. We can talk through what you feel during an ache, discomfort or restricted movement, including how the nervous system may be involved. That understanding can help you make more informed choices about caring for yourself.
I can help you learn which stretches and movements are useful for you, how to do them, how much to do and when to adjust. Together, we can develop a stretching and mobility practice that fits your life. Specific stability, balance or strength exercises can support that work where needed.
We return to those suggestions over time, see how they’re working and refine them. What you learn becomes something you can use between visits and carry into the years ahead.
For the activities—and the years—ahead
You may be in your 50s, 60s or 70s, feeling generally healthy and wanting to stay that way. Perhaps you’re preparing for an adventure trip, beginning training for your first half-marathon or hoping to keep travelling well into your 80s.
You might also have a familiar problem—such as recurring low-back discomfort—that deserves consistent attention while you continue living an active life.
Whether you enjoy tennis, pickleball, skiing, hiking or golf, we can consider what those activities ask of your body. I specialize in sports massage, with particular experience working with golfers.
The choices you make today can be part of caring for the person you’ll be ten or twenty years from now.

Part of life at home
At home, you have privacy, familiar surroundings and time set aside for yourself. Longer visits give us room for bodywork, conversation and movement practice. We can work on stretching or mobility in the space where you’ll actually continue it.
Visits can be for you alone or shared among partners, family members or others at the same home. A couple might practice movement together and then have individual bodywork. One person may need focused treatment while another wants a maintenance massage. Each person’s care is individual.
Regular clients schedule at least once a month. We agree on the mix of work, each person’s time and short breaks before the visit. Afterward, you can take a shower, rest or return to your day.

Planning your visits
Your home and setup
Home visits are available around Portland and nearby communities, normally within one hour of travel each way. We’ll confirm your location and the arrangements before booking.
You’ll need space for the work and a massage table and sheets that stay at your home. I don’t transport a table. If you need one, we can discuss a suitable table and whether you or I will purchase it.
Time and rates
Home visits are $250 per hour, with total bookings in whole hours. Individual sessions within a shared visit can vary in length. Regular visits have a two-hour minimum ($500 before additional travel).
If you’ve decided you want a single visit, one-time bookings are available with a four-hour minimum ($1,000 before additional travel), with no ongoing commitment.
A four-hour minimum also applies when the estimated round trip takes 90 minutes or more.
Travel
Two- or three-hour bookings include 30 minutes of total round-trip travel. Bookings of four hours or more include one hour.
Additional travel is $150 per hour. We estimate travel using typical conditions and agree on the total travel charge before booking.
Let’s talk about what matters to you
Tell me what you want to keep doing, what you’d like to improve and where you live. We’ll talk about how ongoing care could fit your life, whether for you, your household or a parent you’re helping arrange care for.
